The World of Reading Festival will once again take place in Lakeland next month.
The Greater Lakeland Junior League will present the yearly celebration of literacy in Barnett Family Park. The address is 730 East Orange Street, it is free to attend, and each child will get one or more free Books. Although many local families consider it a tradition, it is mostly geared toward children.
Musician Jack Hartmann will perform for kids, and activities will include face painting and balloon animals. Crafts, food, and beverages will be for sale, and there may be opportunities to meet others.
Four tents around the festival will have a different theme based on a book. Kids will receive passports to get a stamp for every tent they visit. For each story, participants will create a craft they get to keep. After they have visited all the tents, kids can choose a book from the Spotlight Tent and the Junior League Tent. This is on a first come, first served basis.
Two authors will sign autographs, read their work, and meet fans. Jennifer Swanson wrote Astronaut Aquanaut How Space Science and Sea Science Interact, while Jaime Engle wrote Clifton Chase and the Arrow of Light. Around 700 attendees will get free signed Copies of their Books.
The festival will take place on August 22 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. Festivals use banner printing to mark the venue and guide people to the right area.
