Lakeland Christmas Parade to arrive next month

Lakeland is preparing for its Christmas Parade, which will wind through a 1.25-mile course along the city’s streets in early December.

The event will start at Lake Mirror with a firework display. Afterwards, the parade will officially start moving. Participants will decorate their floats to showcase the event’s theme. Some themes explored in past years include “The Giving City” and “A Storybook Christmas.” Like in previous years, there will be a citizen chosen to be the honorary grand marshal.

Floats will also compete with one another for a chance to win in eight different categories. Some categories include the most outstanding display, the most professional float, the best business float, and the best theme. For competitions like these, winners usually receive awards made with the help of printing services.

For anyone unable to view the parade in person, the whole event will also be broadcast online and on television. Locals can tune into Lakeland’s Facebook page, FiOS Channel 43, Spectrum Channel 643 or Comcast Channel 5 to catch the parade.

The parade will be held on December 2 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. It will begin at 100 North Kentucky Avenue and then move down through Lemon Street and Downtown Lakeland. To prepare for the event, the city will start closing streets along the parade route at 5:30 PM.
