High-rise in discussions for Lakeland

A lofty office building could be in the pipeline for downtown Lakeland.

The empty property next to Lake Mirror would be the location of the new building. Developers are also planning a new garage south of the Terrace Hotel for parking. In the future, the garage may be converted into apartments or a hotel. Both of these are part of a group of projects.

According to TheLedger.com, some sources say most of the building would house Summit, a workers' compensation company, but this has not been publicly disclosed. The Lakeland Economic Development Council is part of the group planning the projects, but the other organizations involved have not been discussed. The LEDC commonly mediates between the city manager and businesses interested in open in Lakeland.

Although it would add more businesses to the area, the complex deal requires multiple companies to work together. Terrace Hotel representative Rob Scharar said he knows about the set of businesses meeting, but does not know the plan.

Sharing parking space will be a major topic for discussion. Scharar was part of the hotel's renovations two decades prior, and his investment organization has a service lot two properties away.

The nearby parking lot works for the hotel but Scharar believes it is essential to making the property popular and compatible. For years, the property has been an optimal choice for planners and architects for residential space or a hotel.

As well as a good location, new businesses rely on quality graphic design to attract customers to their brand.
