The Oyster Jam Music Festival will be coming to downtown Jacksonville in a couple of days.
Oysters, roasted, steamed, chargrilled and raw will be the main focus of the event, along with live music, and activities and contests for the whole family.
Community restaurants will be competing in the Oyster Cook-off with their specialty oyster recipes. Top shuckers will be battling for a trophy and cash in the Oyster Shuck-n Contest. Southeast US Boat Show admission will be included in the tickets to the festival. The Boat Show Bikini Contest winner will receive cash and prizes amounting to $1500. The Jacksonville Scene will be holding a Cornhole Tournament, and there will be stand up paddleboard racing.
In addition to downing succulent oysters, attendees can enjoy other goodies from an assortment of food trucks. Other vendors will also be plentiful.
Over the years, this event has donated over 10,000lbs of oyster shells to the GTM Oyster Shell Recycling Program and hopes to significantly add to that total this year. Pictures taken at this event will surely be added to the city’s 2018 visitor Brochures.
The festival is slated for April 22 and 23 at Metropolitan Park, 1410 Gator Bowl Blvd, Jacksonville. On Saturday the event will run from 10:00 am until 8:00 pm, and Sunday’s hours will be from 10:00 am until 6:00 pm.
