Jacksonville is gearing up for its annual JAX Summerfest.
The Chastity Taylor Foundation and The Vision Is Power Foundation will host this independent music festival that will present music along with a fashion show and artist/brand showcases.
The foundations will also feature awareness and community service events. This will include collecting school supplies, clothing, food, and bottled water to be distributed to economically disadvantaged students from K through 12th grade.
The first evening will begin with ‘Fashions Unlimited’, in which designer Angelica Scurry will present two of her fashion lines. Also on the agenda will be a few works of north Florida’s visual artists. Some of our city’s musical talent will be showcased in a performance later in the evening.
The second night will start with the Back 2 School Giveaway - a distribution of the school supplies, clothing, and food collected the night before. A full day Caribbean festival will be followed by a musical artist showcase.
Sunday’s activities will begin with a family fellowship and continue with an informal public forum. Local leaders and community members will be focusing on improving community and government relations.
Everyone will want to clear a space in their Calendars this weekend, August 12-14, and show up at Level 7 Event Center2115 University Blvd S Jacksonville. Those interested will want to check the event’s website for times and locations.
