Jacksonville is not forgetting charities during the holiday season. Two of these events will be the Festival of Light 5K for the hospitals of the Children’s Miracle Network, and the Hope 4 the Holidays fundraiser.
The 25th Annual Festival of Lights 5k and Family Fun Run will take place in early December. Luminaries will line San Marco Boulevard as runners and walkers traverse the course. Participation will be $15 for those running the one-mile fun run, and $30 for the 5K. Fees will go up race week. All runners and walkers will receive event T-Shirts sporting this year’s graphic design.
This year registration will be limited to 1,500 in-person participation. However, there will be a virtual option.
The one-mile fun run begins at 5:30 pm. The 5K will begin at 6:00 pm with waves of 200 participants leaving every five minutes.
There will not be a post-race celebration or an awards ceremony. Awards will be available in the awards tent right after the race or can be picked up at Baymeadows 1st Place Sports the following day.
This race will be on December 5th from 5:00 pm to 9:30 pm in San Marcos Square.
Hope 4 The Holidays’ Fundraiser for the Edith Marie Foundation, which provides gifts for families battling breast cancer, will also take place Saturday, December 5 from 7:00 pm until 11:00 pm at Friday Musicale, Inc. 645 Oak Street. Terrence Pickett will host the live entertainment and there will be catered cuisine.
