Jacksonville spends evenings with Mozart

The Jacksonville Symphony is starting the New Year with its 2019 Midwinter Mozart Festival.

Opening the festival will be Raymond James Coffee Series - Coffee with Wolfy Coffee. The symphony will play an assortment of the master’s most beloved pieces such as themes from The Magic Flute and The Marriage of Figaro.

The next night will be Mozart Opera Scenes. This will be some of the more famous scenes such as those with the Queen of the Night, Letter Duet, Papageno, and Figaro. The symphony will accompany University of North Florida faculty, alumni and students in the recreation of these Mozart hits.

The festival turns to the movies the next weekend with a showing of the acclaimed film that garnered eight Academy Awards - “Amadeus.”

Mozart Chamber Music will mark the mid-point of the festival. Music for these smaller ensembles will still retain all the beauty and elegance of Mozart’s larger works but in a more intimate setting.

Larger businesses often give tickets to events such as these as Corporate Gifts.

Coffee with Wolfy Coffee is scheduled for Friday, January 11 at 11:00 am, and this and all the other festival events will be in Times Union Center for the Performing Arts, Jacoby Hall, 300 Water Street.

The performance of Mozart Opera Scenes will be Saturday, January 12 beginning at 8:00 pm.

‘Amadeus’ will be showing at 7:00 pm to Friday, January 18, and Mozart Chamber Music will be performed Sunday, January 20 starting at 3:00 pm.
