Jacksonville set for operatic fun

Jacksonville locals can experience a unique opera at The Museum of Science and History (MOSH) next week.

‘La Caroline’ is a rock opera based on French and Spanish explorers, aristocrats, and the Timucua tribe. During the rooftop performance, rock music will accompany singing characters and a drama. In addition, as the play unfolds, connections between modern life and the 16th Century will emerge.

Jacksonville playwright Jennifer Chase wrote ‘La Caroline’ and John Citrone provided the music. As a musician, Chase has opened for Grammy-winning artists and traveled around the world. In addition to writing plays and musicals, she has also worked in film and television.

MOSH is a hands-on museum featuring exhibits, a planetarium, and educational programs. The establishment also has ongoing events, concerts, workshops, and after-hour activities. Kids can visit seasonal or day camps to learn in a novel way.

Tickets cost $27.50 each and can be purchased on the museum’s website. For the special Gala finale performance, admission is $37.50 and includes a post-performance reception.
