The Carnival Organization of Jacksonville, Inc. will present Jacksonville Caribbean Carnival in August.
The Carnival Parade will step off at the intersection of A. Phillip Randolph Boulevard and 1st Streets at noon on August 10. It will feature music such as soca and calypso played on steel drums, and dancing girls will wear colorful Caribbean costumes.
The carnival will have music and dance from DJs, live bands, and local schools. Vendors will be sellers Caribbean food and merchandise such as jewelry, artwork, and clothing. Usually, they carry Business Cards in case passersby want to get in touch with them later.
J’ouvert will take place on Thursday at a Lets Fog It Up party at unit “C” 1898 Wambolt Street. This will be a color, paint, and powder evening. Signature packages will include paint, cup, powder, T-shirt, all in draw string Bags. This event starts at 9:00 pm and will go until around 2:00 am.
Super stars from the Virgin Islands, Trinidad and Tobago, and Puerto Rico will take to the stage. Mego Glo will perform on Friday and Last Lap on Saturday at the park.
Tickets run from $10 early admission and $15 general admission, to $25 VIP early and $35 VIP at-the-door admission.
Caribbean Festival will run Thursday, August 8 to Saturday, August 10 at Metro Park 2, 1410 Gator Bowl Boulevard. Carnival hours will be from noon until 9:00 pm.
