Jacksonville ready to be on the run

The Gate River Run, which is coming soon, offering Jacksonville athletes an active way to start their spring.

The run will feature a variety of races and, as always, will feature the largest 15K race run in the United States.

The 15K race will be the headliner, with athletes from across the country competing for $85,000 in prize money, but there will also be races for kids, people with disabilities, and of course the popular Diaper Dash.

All participants will get to run in the race for which they register, and will receive a technical moisture wicking shirt and a race number. Those who win will leave the race with medals. Those planning to participate are advised to assess their physical condition and to arrive early.

Others who plan to support the runners or walkers may want to have banner printing done for the finish line. Due to the large number of participants, runner/walkers will be released from the starting gate in waves, which will be assigned during registration.

The Run will take place Saturday, March 12 at various sites around Everbank Field Dr in Jacksonville. The action will kick off at 8:30 am. Registration fees range from $25 to $55 depending on the race. There will be ample parking around the site, including a Disabled Competitors’ Parking Area.
