The Third Annual Jacksonville Magazine’s Lantern Parade will once again light up downtown Jacksonville in mid-February. Over 5,000 people are expected to turn out bearing or wearing anything that glows, shines or twinkles.
At 6:00 pm on the evening, revelers are invited to the starting line at Riverside Artist Square and join in the festive atmosphere of live music, vendors selling glow merchandise, food trucks and kids games. The illuminated procession will begin at 7:00 pm. Along with the glowing accoutrements, marchers are invited to provide music.
The two-mile jaunt will start under the Fuller Warren Bridge, go down the Northbank Riverwalk and end at Laura Street. Participants can join the parade at any point along the route. The evening will end with fireworks at 8:55 pm.
Workshops to create lanterns and other glowing gear will be available during January and early February. The JPL Main Library will hold its workshops from 11:30 am until 1:00 pm on January 16, January 24 and February 1 from 2:30 pm until 4:00 pm. The Art Gallery, Suite #430 in the Regency Square Mall, will have its workshop from 2:00 to 4:00 on February 1 as well. Other workshops will be held at many local brewing companies.
Photo enthusiasts that take pictures of events like this often take them to local Stationery printers to be made into personalized Stationery and/or notecards.
The Jacksonville Lantern Parade will take place on Saturday, February 15.
