Jacksonville kicks off the new year with a 5k race
Downtown Jacksonville will once again present its New Year’s Eve Fireworks to end 2023, and Jax Melanin Market Inc. will hold its first annual New Year, New You 5k Run Walk and Roll and One Mile in early January.
The fireworks will be launched from the Acosta Bridge and a barge located on the St. John’s River at midnight on December 31st. Good viewing locations will be on both the river’s North and South banks in Jacksonville’s downtown, and at the Riverside Arts Market area.
The first annual New Year, New You 5k Run Walk and Roll will begin and end in A. Philip Randolph Park on A. Philip Randolph Boulevard, and chip timing for the 5k will be provided by the Jaguar timing system.
Entry fees are $25 for the 5k before December 30th, $30 until race day and $35 on race day.
Early registrants (those registering before December 30th) will receive special race shirts sporting the event’s graphic design. Runners will also receive finisher medals at the finishing line.
Awards for the 5k will go to the male and female winners across 14 age categories. Food, beverages, and activities will be available in the park after the race.
The New Year, New You 5k Run Walk and Roll will take place Saturday, January 6, beginning at 8:00am for the 5k and 9:00am for the 1 Mile.
