Jacksonville jazzes it up

Residents can go to downtown Jacksonville for several fun-filled days of music later this month.

The Jacksonville Jazz Festival will feature performances on several different stages. There will also be special events going on throughout the festival. For instance, a piano competition will feature five finalists who are vying for a cash prize.

There will also be a music clinic where individuals of all ages can learn from jazz experts. To make a reservation, interested individuals can call (904) 630-3690.

Attendees can check out and purchase all sorts of art, such as pottery, jewelry, and photography. Another highlight is the Youth Jazz Talent showcase, where young jazz artists will compete for a prize to further their musical education.

Grammy-winner Fantasia will be performing at the festival’s Off Jazz Concert on May 22 at 7:00 pm. Tickets cost $38.50. No doubt a Stationery printing service has been busy making tickets for the concert.

The festival takes place on May 21 from 7:00 pm until 11:00 pm, May 22 from 5:00 pm until 11:00 pm, May 23 from 1:00 pm until 10:00 pm, and May 24 from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm.

The official festival site is located at 117 West Duval Street. However, the piano competition and the Off Jazz concert will take place at The Florida Theatre on 128 East Forsyth Street.
