The City of Jacksonville is still planning to present The 40th Annual Jacksonville Jazz Festival, which will be in full swing over Memorial Day weekend.
Two stages will have live jazz with well-known local, regional national and international talent. Some artists on this year’s lineup will be Jeffrey Osborne, Mindi Abair, the Ron Carter Quartet, and the Kurt Elling Quartet.
Although admission to the festival will be free, organizers are pushing the VIP tickets. The three-day Jazz package tier 2, including a pass to the Jacksonville Piano Competition, is $339 until May 21st. The $99 Friday Discover Jazz Single Day Package will be available until May 22, and the Saturday and Sunday Discover Jazz Single Day Packages will be $129 each.
Perks for the VIP passes include wristbands, upfront seating, reserved parking, special food and beverage credits, swag packs, and a $5 coupon toward festival merchandise.
The merchandise tent will be bulging with clothing and items sporting the festival’s flashy graphic design.
Five finalists in the Jazz Piano Competition will vie for the opportunity to perform at the festival on Saturday, May 23 and to receive a cash prize of $3,500. The second place winner will receive $1,500 and the third placer winner will receive $750. The Jacksonville Jazz Competition will be Thursday, May 21 beginning at 7:00 pm at the Florida Theatre.
