Jacksonville in for a jazzy May

Jacksonville Jazz Festival 2018 will be here over Memorial Day weekend for a free four-day musical romp on three outdoor stages, covering 15 city blocks in downtown Jacksonville. Over 130,000 jazz enthusiasts are expected to attend.

A variety of music artists and bands will be performing, including Trombone Shorty, The Bad Plus, Sheila E, The Pete Escovedo, and Vijay Iyer. Other acts featured will be Jane Bunnett, Lohai, Mica Bethea, and Linda Cole. There will be a Jazz Jam and a piano competition.

New this year will be the open air Jazz Marketplace, where makers and artists will be vending their hand-crafted items and original art. The area merchandise booths will be interspersed with jazz eats and drinks.

The final day will be the Omni Sacred Jazz Brunch, which will be a gourmet cuisine buffet where music will be performed by the Noel Freidline Quintet. Jacksonville Jazz Festival 2018 will be in full swing Thursday, May 24th starting at 7:00 pm, Friday, May 25th from 4:00 to 11:00 pm, Saturday, May 26th from 1:00 pm until 11:00, and Sunday, May 27th from 1:00 pm until 10:00 pm in downtown Jacksonville along the St. Johns River front.
