Jacksonville has four Christmas options

Our performing arts center is having four programs this month that are so different that everyone is likely to find one they will want to see.

The Jacksonville Symphony will present ‘Holiday Pops’. The conductor will be Nathan Aspinall and the symphony will share the stage with the Jacksonville Symphony chorus. Next the Jacksonville Symphony will present ‘Handel’s Messiah’. A new version of ‘A Christmas Carol’ is running from mid-November until late January in the Moran Theater.

A Christmas Wonderland Holiday Spectacular –Broadway style will be coming to town in a couple of weeks.

High-kicking chorus gals and guys will be singing tunes of the seasons such as the traditional ones – ‘Jingle Bells’, ‘Deck the Halls’, and ‘Winter Wonderland’ and the more modern ‘Rock Around the Christmas Tree’ and ‘Let it Snow’.

The cast of over 30 members will be donning 1,000 glittering costumes. Santa and his helpers will be taking the audience on a journey with Christmas songs such as ‘Away in the Manger’, ‘O Come all Ye Faithful’, and ‘O Holy Night’.

Holiday Pops will run from December 7 through 10 at various times and Handel’s Messiah will be December 12 and 13th in the Robert E. Jacoby Symphony Hall.

Many will be marking their Calendars for Christmas Wonderland, which will be here in town Tuesday, December 19 starting at 7:30 pm at the Times-Union Center for the Performing Arts in its Moran Theater at 300 Water Street, Jacksonville.
