Jacksonville dogs get their day

In accordance with National Dog Day, Okefenokee Humane Society, BARK ON PARK, and the Hyperion Brewing Company are co-hosting a day to pamper our pooches.

Guests can adopt a dog at the on-site Pet Adoption area. The Okefenokee Humane Society will have puppies and dogs that are available for adoption right on the premises for guests to meet. The society is hoping to surpass the number of pets that were adopted at the last event, which was nine.

BARK ON PARK will be vending its most popular dog toys and treats, and will also be giving pets last minute touch-up grooming so the furry members of the family will look their best in family pictures taken by a local photographer. These photos can be found on the host’s Facebook page after the event. Many families will likely add these snapshots to their family newsletter printing and family Calendars.

MDMT Dog Training, Inc. will have a representative, Menoka Bernardo, answering questions and encouraging owners to use positive reinforcement with their pets.

Dogs will be eating dogs as the Buck A. Roux’s Smokehouse will be serving brats. The vendors will not forget to bring their special house-made mustard sauce.

The fun will be taking place on Saturday, August 26 from noon until 5:00 pm at the Hyperion Brewing Company, 1740 N. Main Street, Jacksonville.
