Jacksonville Childrens Chorus to perform with Omnimusica

The Jacksonville Children’s Chorus will be presenting ‘World Beat Café’ later this month.

All of the Jacksonville Children’s Chorus choirs will be on the program. The guest artists will be Omnimusica, a Grammy-nominated music group.

The program will be a celebration of world music. Members of Omnimusica come from Brazil, China, Peru, Bolivia, Trinidad, areas across the U.S. Their music will be innovative arrangements of traditional music from Africa, East and Southeast Asia, the Middle East, the Caribbean, and South America. Dr. Michael Bakan, the group’s director and founder, has composed original music for the group. Other members have also composed music that the group incorporates into its performances.

The Jacksonville Children’s Chorus organization will surely want to take pictures of this event for its future Brochures.

Along with the price of the performance tickets will be an optional ticket to attend the Pre-Show Reception. Publix Super Market Charities and Digital Benefit Advisors will be sponsoring the reception, the food at which will consist of tidbits from around the world.

World Beat Café and the preshow reception will be held Saturday, November 19 at the Time-Union Center for the Performing Arts at 300 Water Street here in Jacksonville. The performance will be in Jacoby Hall and start at 7:30 pm. The pre-show reception will be in the David Gallery 6 from 6:15 until 7:15 pm. Everyone aged two or older must have a ticket.
