National Honey Bee Day will be celebrated with the Bee Friends Farm Honey Bee Festival coming in mid-August.
More than 60 local vendors will be selling bee-related items in the Buzzy Bee Marketplace. Some will include beekeeping crafts, honey-infused items, and honey to purchase.
Vendors who sell specific items like bee products often have special business card printing done. In this case they would include images of bees. Then they slip the Business Cards in with purchases or pass them out to interested passers-by.
Nassau County, Clay County and Jacksonville Beekeepers Associations will be discussing beekeeping and answering any questions.
A Bee a Kid Zone will feature, interactive crafts, planting activities, eco-friendly art, bee biology lessons, hands-on modules and live entertainment. Other educational activates on beekeeping and other bee information will be given by guest speakers in the Honey Bee Education Annex. Local food trucks will be on site selling snacks and summer treats.
Honey lovers may try samples of various honey varieties from here in local Florida. These honeys will also be available for purchase at the Bee Friends Farm, both at the festival and at their permanent location at 1118 S Edgewood Avenue.
General admission will be $10 and free for kids under 6 years old.
Bee Friends Farm Honey Bee Festival will take place August 18th from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm at the Fairground's Expo Center, 510 Fairground Place.
