Jacksonville bowls for rhinos

The Jacksonville Zoo and Garden’ chapter of the American Association of Zoo Keepers will be presenting its 2016 Bowling for Rhinos in just a few days.

This two-day event will be a fundraiser for international conservation, during which 100% percent of the proceeds will go to three wildlife conservancies and national parks – two in Indonesia and one in Kenya – where every species of rhino can be found. These sanctuaries also work to save other endangered animals, such as elephants, and plants such as orchids.

Bowling will not be the only activity at the event, as there will be a raffle and silent auction. Attendees will be able to purchase ‘Bowling for Rhino’ T-Shirts.

The $20 registration fee will include shoe rental and two games of bowling, and participants are encouraged to get sponsors. The overall highest scorer of the event will receive what the organizers promise will be “an amazing thank-you gift”. Non-bowlers may also come and watch; they will only need to pay $10.

Interested parties may want to have Flyers printed to distribute this information to their animal-friendly organizations, or will strive to get the information to these organizations before their newsletter printing.

The event is scheduled for June 17 and 18 at the Beach Bowl, 818 Beach Boulevard, in Jacksonville. The association’s local chapter is hoping to raise more than the $18,000 it achieved last year.
