The Jacksonville Light Boat Parade will be returning to St. Johns River in late November.
For over 30 years, the City of Jacksonville has presented the parade of brightly lit motor-assisted vessels that have floated along the river’s banks to celebrate the opening of the holiday season. All corporations and boaters are invited to enter.
In order to get a good glimpse of the passing boats, spectators can find viewing spots along the river’s north and south banks in downtown Jacksonville.
Awards will be given for decoration composition and overall appearance in four categories – Corporate, Sailboat, 30 ft. and over Vessels and under 30 ft. Vessels. Winning entries will be announced after the procession.
Last year’s winners were The Kingfisher for Corporate, Sailboat first place went to Kara Vela and second went to Third Command. The 30 foot and over vessel award first place went to Living the Dream while second place went to Patrisha. The 29 foot and under first place went to Jax Gator Express and second place went to Kid Chaos. The Grand Overall prize went to Dancing Dolphins.
The evening will end with fireworks featuring "waterfalls" off of the two downtown bridges.
The Jacksonville Boat Parade committee would like spectators to take pictures of the event and have one of the duplicates that they have had made at local Print shops sent to them.
Jacksonville Light Boat Parade has been scheduled for November 28. Festivities will begin at 6:00 pm.
