The Jacksonville Historical Society will be the beneficiary of the proceeds from the Jacksonville Bicentennial Great Fire Run coming in early May.
Registration for the 5K will be $45 on race day and the one-mile race registration will be $25 on race day. Swag will include cotton/tri-blend shirts featuring the event’s graphic design, goodie Bags and finisher medals. Bibs, packets, and timing chips may be picked up at the event until 15 minutes before each race. Water stations will be along the course as well as at the end of the races.
Awards will go to the first, second and third place women and men overall finishers; first, second and third place women and men’s Masters, and to the top three female and male finishers in the eight 10-year age groups. Overall winner scores will be determined by “gun time” and winners of the age groups will be determined by “chip time.” Postrace activities will be at the finish line.
The start and finish line will be at the Old St. Andrews Church, 317 A. Philip Randolph Blvd. The run will follow the boundary of the Great Fire that ravaged Jacksonville back on May 3rd, 1901.
The Jacksonville Bicentennial Great Fire Run has been scheduled for Saturday, May 7th. The 5K will begin at 7:30 am with the one-mile race starting at 8:30 am.
