The Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens will be having its sixth annual ZooLights next month.
The zoo will be ablaze with thousands of LED lights creating a winter wonderland of animal silhouettes, lighted forests, and moving sculptures. Holiday music will get everyone into the season’s spirit. A lighted train will be taking guests throughout the zoo area. The 4-D theater, which will be showing ‘Rudolf’, and carousel and train rides will be available for a small fee.
Socks and skates can be rented for those who wish to enjoy the warm weather ‘ice’ rink. Tickets for this activity will be good for 15-minute sessions.
Marshmallows, roasting sticks, and s’mores kits (graham crackers, chocolate, marshmallows, and sticks) will also be for sale.
Although many zoo animals will be sleeping inside zoo housing, the likes of leopards, primates, Lost Temple reptiles, and jaguars will be outside roaming around their areas for guests to view, as will stingrays in Stingray Bay.
General admission will be $10 for nonmembers and $8 for zoo members. The $15/$12 value tickets will include Stingray Bay, the train, the carousel, and the 4-D Theater.
Jacksonville families will be marking their Calendars for ZooLights, which will run December 8 through 10 and December 15 to January 6. Sunday through Thursdays the event will be from 6:00 pm until 9:30 pm, with closing time extended to 10:00 pm Fridays and Saturdays. The zoo will be closed Christmas Day.
