Local running for charity events are to be held during June and July.
Hemming Park, 135 W. Monroe Street, will hold its annual Run for the Pies in June. Swag includes 5K Block Party, prize money, custom finisher medals, technical tank tops featuring the event’s graphic design and the chance to win a pie.
The evening will begin with the 361 Championship 5K at 7:00 pm. Prizes for overall female and male winners will be $250 for first place, $150 for second place and $100 for third. The Open 5k starts at 7:30 pm. Men breaking 20 minutes and women breaking 24 minutes will win one of 200 pies after they cross the finish line. The block party starts at 8:30 pm. A pie eating contest begins half-hour later and prize money awards begin 10 minutes after that. The event will end with a huge sports raffle. Prizes will include running Apparel, shoes and Bags.
Proceeds will go to high school track and cross country programs.
Run for the Pies will take place Saturday, June 13th.
The 2020 5th Annual Field Auto Group Walk for Wishes, a fundraiser for Central and Northern Florida Make-a-Wish Foundation, is scheduled for mid-July.
Registration will begin at 7:30 am with the race beginning at 8:30 am. The walk will be family-friendly and participants, local companies and participating teams are raising money from supporters.
The event will take place in Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens, 370 Zoo Parkway, July 18th.
