Downtown Jacksonville will revel with tropical sights and sounds, with the Jacksonville Caribbean Carnival coming in mid-August.
Bringing the culture and beauty of the Caribbean, the event will be a three-day "Stay to Get Away" weekend with a costume and band street parade, including Enchanta Mas, Razzmatazz, Mystikal Mas, and Tropicaya Mas bands. Entries will be judged on originality, craftmanship, composition, variety, materials, use of space, presentation, difficulty, and spirit.
Pictures of high-energy Caribbean dancers wearing vibrant costumes are often favorite subjects for Stationery printers.
The festivities will also have live performers, including steel drum and theater performances in the streets. A village will have vendors selling colorful items with a Caribbean theme, and the crowd will be treated to a live International Caribbean concert.
Exotic food from the region with its spicy aroma and flavors will be available for purchase, adding ambience to the event.
General admission will be $15 until tomorrow (June 30) and $20 thereafter. Showtime tickets will be $25. Covered V.I.P. seating, including food vendors and a cash bar, will cost $80. General weekender passes to the Mega Glo will be $70 while VIP weekender packs are $125. Weekender packages for the carnival only will be $55.
The Jacksonville Caribbean Carnival will take place Thursday, August 15 to Sunday August 18 from noon to 9:00 pm in Downtown Jacksonville.
