A unique South Florida event is returning to Hollywood soon.
The Hollywood Beach Half Marathon Double Header Challenge has been scheduled, and is a great way for runners to welcome the new year.
The race starts early from a spot close to the Hollywood North Beach Park. Participants will have a perfect view of the sun as it rises above the Atlantic, and can listen to the waves crashing onto the beach, which is only a few steps away.
As the sun continues to rise, runners will head south along the Hollywood Broadwalk until they reach Harry Berry Park, where they will make a U-turn and go back north, enjoying ocean views and encouraging others still heading south.
The route then moves to the North Surf Road, which also parallels the Atlantic. Runners will pass through a tunnel of shade trees before they start the second loop. Finishers of both the single and double loops, which are a half-marathon and 5K, will receive medals, and delicious snacks are also waiting at the end of the race.
Those who finish both parts of the race will be award a medal specially designed to go along with the finisher's medals. The race begins at 6:30 am on January 5. Poster printing can be used to create signage that designates the routes of events like this.
