Iconic singer/songwriter to make July appearance

A legendary bluesman is coming to the Hollywood area.

Boz Scaggs will be in Fort Lauderdale soon, on his Out of the Blues 2020 tour. Scaggs was born in Ohio and raised in Texas, where he learned to play the guitar when he was 12. He also met Steve Miller, frontman of the Steve Miller Band. The two attended college in Wisconsin, where Scaggs played with local blues bands.

Shortly after, he went out on his own, but did not achieve a breakthrough until 1976, when he released “Silk Degrees,” which won a Grammy nomination as album of the year. It went on to climb to No. 2 on the US Billboard 200, and gave birth to hits like “Lido Shuffle,” and “Lowdown.” “We're All Alone” also came from this album, and won a Grammy for Best R&B Song.

Comfortable in genres ranging from blues to jazz rock, Scaggs is still writing songs and touring, and released “A Fool to Care” in 2015. The album went to No. 1 on the Billboard Blues Album chart.

A review said:

“Boz put on an unbelievably wonderful show . . . A mix of his radio play classics and great blues that he’s put out the last number of years.”

Boz Scaggs will be appearing at the Au-Rene Theater at the Broward Center in Fort Lauderdale, a short drive from Hollywood, on July 29, at 7:30 pm. Brochure printing can create programs for this type of event.
