Hollywood's Seminole Hard Rock hotel nears completion

The massive Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino entertainment complex has been undergoing renovation since 2016, and recently announced its centerpiece—a hotel shaped like a guitar—is almost ready for its topping-off ceremony.

The hotel tower, which is 450 feet tall, can be seen for miles across the flat central-Florida landscape. There are 806 suites and guestrooms in the hotel, with 638 in the tower proper. Another 168 units will be found in a smaller tower near the pool. When finished, the entire complex will offer 1,264 hotel rooms, a figure that includes the original hotel, which is now over a decade old.

The ‘Bora Bora Experience’, a pool resort area comprising 13.5 acres, will be located at the tower's base. The Experience will feature waterfalls and water, surrounding private villas. The hotel is scheduled to open in mid-2019, giving it time to get up to speed before the Super Bowl, which will be played in February 2020 at the Hard Rock Stadium nearby.

Elsewhere in the complex, the Hard Rock Live Theater is being renovated to increase the number of seats so the theater can hold 7,000 audience members.

The topping-off ceremony, which is a traditional way of marking the moment the final beam is hoisted into place at the top of a structure, is set for Monday, July 9.
