The ride to Orlando takes four hours and to Tampa about five hours. The number of $1 tickets available for any bus ride can vary by the day of the week (with Tuesdays and Wednesdays being less busy), the time of the year, and the time the bus leaves. As the travel date gest closer to booking time, the ticket prices increase, although they remain competitive with those of other bus companies according to a study by DePaul University.
In addition to discount fares, Megabus has double-decker buses, lap and shoulder seatbelts, free Wi-Fi, and wheelchair access.
A study carried out by the DePaul University Chaddick Institute for Metropolitan Development this year revealed bus services like Megabus that travel between major cities cost about half as much as train service and 79% less than airline travel.
