Hollywood hospital to hold speech therapy boot camp

The Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital in Hollywood will be offering a single-day boot camp in July to improve speech intelligibility.

The Speech Therapy Boot Camp Day is a program where people can learn tips for improving communication skills from the Cleft and Craniofacial Center at Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital. The department's team will provide fun and social activities that help kids eliminate compensatory speech errors and improve their oral placement when vocalizing. The patients who participate in the speech therapy camp will be grouped based on age and needs.

The Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital is a medical facility established during the early 1990s, and today it has more than 290 beds to accommodate kids. The hospital also contains cardiac hybrid operating rooms, intensive care units, and family resource and respite spaces. People can assist the medical center by donating toys and money. The hospital also welcomes volunteers and can accept donations from events like walk-a-thons or fundraising challenges.

The speech therapy boot camp will be held on Saturday, July 22 from 7:30 am to 5:00 pm. Memorial Healthcare System Employees can pay $50 for the program if they register before July 1. Student volunteers may attend the boot camp for free. Hospitals with workshops such as this may use poster printing to let visitors know about their upcoming educational activities.
