Ozinga, a concrete company based in Chicago, has only been in Florida for three months, but has already bought two concrete plants in Broward County, including one in Hollywood.

Ozinga, which is 88 years old and family-owned, bought the Banaszak plant in Davie, as well as the Hollywood facility, and plans to keep twenty Banaszak employees on the payroll when it takes over. Banaszck has been in business in the county since 1964.

The two new acquisitions will be added to the list of plants in Florida, joining the one N.W. 17th Avenue in Miami. The Miami plant opened in February and will employ 30 workers. In total, Ozinga has more than 1,500 employees, mostly in plants throughout the Midwest; the three Florida plants are its first foray into the state. The company mixes stone, cement, and sand to form concrete.

Ozinga’s president, Martin Ozinga IV, said the company prides itself on the quality of its products, and the service it provides, but also becoming part of the communities it serves. He says the company is looking forward to building lasting relationships with people throughout South Florida, which will help enhance life throughout the region.
