Funding career training can be challenging, but a local non-profit is offering a practical training course to help lower-income residents of Hollywood access the workforce.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County has announced a free, 9-week course of study to assist qualifying candidates for beginning careers in the beauty industry. The course will give students hands-on training, practical marketing skills, and knowledge of the field’s legal requirements. Particular topics covered during the course include nail care, facials, braiding, and sanitary practices. The course is offered in cooperation with the City of Hollywood. City services can be communicated to the public by the use of flyer printing or other Graphic Design Services.
The in-depth vocational training is offered to Hollywood residents qualifying by both income and geographical location. Applicants should live within one of the city’s designated low- to moderate-income (LMI) neighborhoods, and there is an income requirement as well. All applicants will participate in both an income and address verification process.
The course will occur October 7 through December 2 at the Marti Huizenga Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County and will begin with an orientation session. Graduation will be held on December 9. The venue’s address is 1111 North 69th Way in Hollywood. Classes will be conducted from 4:30 to 7:30 PM on Tuesdays each week. Course completion positions graduates for entry-level positions within the industry.
