Wine pairing dinners are becoming increasingly common, and one is slated for Doral.
A wine pairing dinner is what it sounds like—experts cook a gourmet meal and then choose the wine that will pair best with the food being served. In Doral, the event is called the Run for the Rosés. The dinner is occurring the same week as the Kentucky Derby, so those attending are encouraged to wear fedoras, fascinators, or colorful hats in honor of the race.
The menu for dinner starts with the traditional mint julep, followed by a buttermilk drop biscuit with scallion and white cheddar, glazed with honey butter. Next up is an arugula and fennel salad with brie and blackberry-orange jam. The wine for this course is Katie Lee Rosé, from Food Network star Katie Lee Biegel.
The main course is pork shanks braised in Blue Moon, served with onion strings, pimento cheese grits, and Kentucky succotash. The accompanying wine is Old Vine Zinfandel.
Finally, dessert is a chocolate pecan cake served with a toffee mousse and vanilla anglaise, for which the pairing is Kentucky Coffee.
The event is set for May 9, from 7.00 pm until 10.00 pm, at Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurants on Northwest 83rd Avenue. Seating is random, giving people the chance to meet others. Organizers of events like this can use flyer printing to create elegant Menus.
