A rising star in Hispanic comedy is coming to Doral soon.
Jóse Rafael Guzmán is a native of Caracas, Venezuela, where he established a career as a dentist. However, after several years in practice, he turned to his true passion of comedy. Since then, he has appeared in several radio programs, films, and documentaries like 2019’s “Caminantes,” and “Guinea Bissau,” released in 2023. He has also launched a successful channel on YouTube.
His humor has been described as “acidic,” not surprising considering that some of his life’s milestones include being detained in a Texas detention center for several months. He is returning to the stage with “Candela,” his latest show, in which Guzmán describes his experiences as a “father” of three dogs, his latest African trip, and how to find a simpler way to view life.
Recently, Guzmán launched an English/Spanish podcast, “La cárcel no da risa” (“Jail Is No Joke”) that has rapidly become one of the most widely heard podcasts in the world. He also has a more personal show, “El humano es un animal,” which has over 100,000 subscribers.
Guzmán will be at the Miami Improv Theater in Doral on Sunday, September 8, where he will give his performance entirely in Spanish. Planners of events like this will often reach out to printers, and request that they use poster printing to create colorful advertising for the show.
