Steven Ho is the genius behind the TikTok series “Tips from the ER,” which became the springboard to his successful career in comedy. He got his start in March 2020, at the height of the pandemic, when he uploaded his first video to TikTok.
He says he was frustrated by working in the ER during COVID, especially because he had no outlet for his creativity. A friend suggested he share his stories about the ER with others via social media. His first video was simple, about how people can avoid the ER by staying hydrated. He was calling people names but at the same time, giving comical advice, and he found an immediate audience, now numbering more than 14 million.
With a solid start, he took to the road, performing his “It’s an Emergency” show to sold-out venues in the UK, Canada, and the US. His background and his gift for storytelling allow him to blend the seriousness of a medical emergency with some of the more absurd aspects of the current health care system.
