Enthusiasm for the Miami Innovation District (MID) is growing among some members of the local tech community, the Miami Herald has reported.
The MID policy has been about the development of the part of downtown adjacent to Park West. If the proposals prove to be successful, then they could help inspire firms to use digital Business Cards from Doral. Andres Moreno, the executive chairperson for the online enterprise Open English, has stated:
“I’m becoming pretty passionate about this project. Miami is definitely coming together as an ecosystem but it is pretty spread out ... We haven’t found a hub.”
Moreno has recently founded an entity called Next University. This move seems to have highlighted his increasing entrepreneurial confidence, and he has suggested that his companies will relocate to the new district.
He has entered into discussions with Michael Simkins, a developer associated with MID. The conversation about the prospects of MID has involved other South Florida investors and businesses. The core concept behind the project is that clusters can assist the organizations that form them.
Simkins has said that national players could become active in the district. Tech venture fund company 500 Startups, which is based in the Silicon Valley, has apparently already made a verbal commitment to the area.
