An informative evening is scheduled in Doral.
Doral Legacy Park will be the place to be to learn about crime prevention and safety awareness, watch demonstrations by police, and receive giveaways of back-to-school items.
The evening combines Back to School Night with the National Night Out. Members of the Doral Police Department will be holding demonstrations, as well as discussing techniques for preventing crime, and how to remain safe.
Another major component of the evening is the giveaway of school supplies. Free Backpacks full of supplies will be given away to school-age youngsters. There is a limit of two packs for a household, the child or children need to be at the event to receive the backpack, parents need to pre-register if they are interested in the giveaway, and the distribution is limited to children who live in the City of Doral. It will not be possible to register for a pack at the event.
The evening is also part of the celebration of National Night Out (NNO). Over 2.5 million people took part in the first NNO, which was held in August 1984, across 23 states involving 400 communities. The night gives residents a chance to interact with local law enforcement personnel in positive circumstances, and includes neighborhood activities like block parties and cookouts.
The evening is scheduled for August 2, from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm. Organizers of such events can use flyer printing to create handouts for attendees, listing the participants.
