Doral city council members, along with representatives of developers Lennar, and the Terra Group, have opened the NW 102 Avenue connector, a new road connecting NW 90th Street with NW 74th Street.
According to an article on the city’s website, the segment, which the developers built as part of an agreement with the city, cost Doral nothing. Terra Group and Lennar had agreed to finance the construction in order to connect their traffic grids to the already existing system of public roads.
The new connector will make it easier for residents in the communities of Doral Common and Grand Bay to travel throughout the area. In addition, the road will make sidewalks safer for pedestrians and reduce congestion on the heavily traveled NW 107th Avenue.
According to Doral’s mayor, Luigi Boria, the new road is part of what he calls Doral’s ‘Traffic Solution Triangle’, an effort to connect the city’s roads in order to alleviate traffic as well as providing alternate routes. He added that private-public partnerships, such as the one between Doral and the two developers, enable the city to undertake these projects without using taxpayers’ money.
The new connector, which is a mile long, features a guardrail, a drainage system, pavement markings, sidewalks, and signage.
