The Vailon Group, a firm of consultants from Miami, has been given the task of connecting subcontractors with the MiamiCentral project.
The MiamiCentral initiative is all about improving a rail terminal for All Aboard Florida (AAF) and the ultimate aim is to link up Miami and Orlando. Everything is due for completion by 2017.
In excess of $2bn will be spent on the work, and the stations at West Palm Beach and Fort Lauderdale will be included in the system.
The Vailon Group has been given the duty of implementing a program for Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE), established by AAF. The consultancy may wish to use printing services in Doral for the purpose of communications.
Scott Sanders, a senior manager at AAF, has said:
“Our partnership with The Vailon Group will focus on opening up more opportunities and making them more accessible for residents and small-business owners in our community.”
Suffolk Construction has been placed in charge of the complex on which the subcontractors will operate. The extent of the structure is approximately 3m square feet, hence plenty of scope for the DBE initiative.
The Washington Economics Group has performed an economic impact study on Miami station. The research in question has suggested that the construction work alone could create almost 500 jobs. It also estimated that about 400 permanent posts could flow from the project.
