The Volunteer Gardening at Vizcaya events are scheduled to continue near Doral this January.
The Vizcaya Museum and Gardens encompasses the estate of businessman James Deering. Under its initial name of Villa Vizcaya, the estate was first constructed between 1914 and 1922. In 1994, the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens was officially classified as a National Historic Landmark.
These monthly gardening events allow volunteers from Doral or other communities in the area to register for the opportunity to aid horticulturist David Hardy with the upkeep and care of the plants at the historic Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, and participate in projects designed to improve the area’s aesthetic appearance. When organizing similar events, the hosts often choose flyer printing to create printouts of key event information.
All who take part in the events must remain six feet apart and wear facemasks. Volunteers may bring their own gardening gloves, although extra gloves will be provided to those who do not own any. For extra health and safety precautions, volunteers will not need to use or share tools to participate in the Vizcaya gardens event.
The Volunteer Gardening at Vizcaya events take place on the first and third Thursdays of each month in Miami. January’s events will occur on January 7 and January 21 from 9:00 am to 11:00 pm on both days.
