Dragonfly spreads its wings in Doral

Dragonfly, a Japanese restaurant chain, opened its third Florida location recently, choosing Doral as the site of the new enterprise.

The other two eateries are in Orlando and Gainesville, and each is different. The Orlando restaurant concentrates on grilling over an open flame, while the one in Gainesville centers on presenting sushi dishes. In Doral, the emphasis is on recreating the atmosphere of authentic izakayas.

An izakaya is a sort of casual neighborhood dining and drinking spot that is appropriate for everyone, from groups of friends enjoying a night out together, to businessmen having a drink after work. In the Doral location, this concept is taken further.

The space comprises 6,000 square feet, featuring a full bar, a large dining room, and an adjacent market. Although the market is not yet open, when it is, patrons will be able to purchase freshly made sushi and grab-and-go meals.

There is outdoor seating available, and a window opens into the bar. Lighting fixtures in the dining room tend toward industrial design, and a large metal chandelier in the shape of a fish is suspended in the center of the ceiling. The fish underscores the restaurant's menu, which offers many seafood choices.

The restaurant's owner might consider creating promotional Drinkware to give to its first customers, to help increase awareness of the new location.
