Running enthusiasts in Doral will be able to support local organizations and have fun at the same time next month.
The Doral 5K Run/Walk gives everyone a chance to enjoy being outdoors and do something healthy. Since there are various age divisions, this can be enjoyed as a family event. At the end of the race, there will be an awards ceremony with prizes in various categories. The run/walk is a fundraiser for the Parks and Police 4 Kids Foundation.
The foundation was created by the city to help young people reach their potential by learning how to form healthy relationships. Programs at the foundation focus on after school recreational programs, health care for children, youth sports initiatives, and mentoring young people.
Until August 27, registration fees are $20 for adults and $15 for children. From August 28 through September 17, the fees are $25 for adults and $20 for children. From September 18 through the 28th, the fees increase to $30 for adults and $25 for children, and those who wait until race day to register will pay $40 for adults and $35 for children. In this context, “children” means anyone 12 or younger.
The race is 3.1 miles long and is scheduled for September 30, beginning at 7.00 am. The location is Doral Meadows Park, at 11555 NW 58th Street. Organizers of events of this type can use banner printing to create durable course markers.
