Doral roads could get revamp

Officials with Miami-Dade County are making plans to extend 82nd Avenue, one of the busiest thoroughfares in Doral, and run it underneath SR 836.

The proposed construction is a measure designed to help alleviate the levels of traffic congestion causing disruption at Northwest 87th Avenue, which is an important feeder route leading to SR 836.

The county's department of transportation and public works director, Alice Bravo, said her team is working on the project with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT). Bravo said that when FDOT planned the rebuilding of the 826/836 interchange, the county thought it was important to help alleviate the congestion around the project. That led to planning to extend some streets and avenues under the newly-built bridges. Thanks to the county’s foresight, one of the bridges will carry Northwest 82nd Avenue underneath SR 836.

Signs marked ‘Road Closed’ are currently erected, pointing out the spot where Northwest 82nd dead-ends at Northwest 12th Street, which runs on a parallel level to SR 836. Already, a bridge has been constructed and soars above the area, but the road still has to be built. Bravo expects construction of the roadway to take place soon.

Agencies like these can benefit by working with flyer printing companies, which can create mailers to inform residents of schedules, road closures and similar issues.
