Doral’s Better Day Therapy Learning Center will host its Not So Scary Halloween event next month for children with learning disabilities and sensory sensitivities.
Better Day Therapy Learning Center is a children’s learning center that specializes in personalized learning experiences for children with autism and learning disabilities. The center’s mission is to improve the quality of life and increase effective educational opportunities for children on the spectrum. This includes hosting events tailored to the children’ specific needs so that they are not left out of fun activities.
The event will provide an alternative to the holiday’s often chaotic Halloween and trick-or-treating events. It will feature sensory friendly elements, since individuals with autism often process sensory information in a different way to neurotypical individuals. Sometimes, this causes sensory overload in people on the spectrum, so the sensory-friendly event will omit the traditional jump scares, loud music, and harsh lights that often accompany Halloween events.
The party will include appropriate music, games, and snacks. Children are invited to attend in their favorite Halloween costumes. Holiday parties like this often make use of banner printing to create event-specific Banners and decorations.
The Not So Scary Halloween is slated for October 30 from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. There will be a $5 entry fee. The venue is located at 9600 Northwest 25th Street, Suite 1, Doral.
