Hernan M. Organvidez was recently named Chief of the Doral Police Department by Edward Rojas, the city manager.
Organvidez has already joined the department, but the official swearing-in ceremony date has not yet been announced.
The new chief has 32 years' experience in law enforcement in Miami-Dade County, both as a sworn officer and in the private sector. He was instrumental in the formation of Doral's police department, and has held ranks starting as an officer and working up to the chief of the South Operations Division.
Ando Consulting, Inc., recently employed Organvidez, during which time he continued to advise organizations in both the private and public sectors on security.
Florida International University granted Organvidez a bachelor's degree with a specialization in criminal justice administration. He also has the distinction of being the first Doral police officer to graduate from the FBI Academy, and has a certificate issued by the University of Miami Leadership Institute.
The new chief will take over a department that comprises 130 sworn officers, as well as 46 civilian employees. The department's annual budget is $21m. Edward Rojas is proud of the department, and believes that the experience the incoming chief brings with him will make it even more successful in the future.
Changes like this are important to the entire community, so officials might consider working with a flyer printing company to create a mailer for residents.
