An event specifically to celebrate the contributions of young female coders to the computer field is scheduled for Doral.
Code/Art Fest is held annually to acknowledge the achievements made by young women working in the field of coding, and to bring awareness to the opportunities available in computing disciplines. The event is open to artists, technologists, educators, parents, students, and others interested in the meeting point of art and technology.
This year’s keynote speaker is Maya Man, a creative technologist and artist whose focus is today’s identity culture as presented on the internet. She has held international art exhibitions, and her work has been featured in Outland, Forbes, and more. She has a BA in computer science and media studies, and an MFA in Media Art. Other speakers include Carla Gannis, a transmedia artist, and Valeria Galvan, a motion designer for the NBA’s Miami Heat.
There are several seminars scheduled for the day, with subjects including “Code an Op Art Animation with JavaScript,” and “Exploring 3D Worlds with Tinkercad.” Digital art will be on display, and attendees will have a chance to vote on their favorites. There will also be a live pitch event, as well as a closing awards ceremony.
Code/Art Fest will take place on March 16 at the Miami-Dade College – West Campus in Doral. The event is free, and organizers planning such conferences will often use flyer printing to create an agenda for attendees.
