On April 29, 2017, the Miami International Mall in Doral was the site of the Chocolate Show for the second year in a row.
For that day, the Sears Court became a Candy Land where both fashion lovers and chocoholics gathered to nibble chocolate, look at creative fashions—many incorporating chocolate—and support the Parks & Police 4 Kids foundation.
Juan Carlos Bermudez, Doral's mayor, started the festivities, saying the Chocolate Show is one of his favorite events.
Students from Miami International University of Art and Design joined with pastry chefs and chocolatiers from the local area to present fashions, provide samples, and give presentations about chocolate. Among the speakers was Charles McDonald, who owns Miami Chocolates and gave a talk about the history of the foodstuff. Cao Chocolates' Ricardo Trillos talked about chocolate's health benefits. He noted that eating dark chocolate is healthy in moderation, and that it can help reduce migraine headaches and suppress coughs, but he also warned to make sure the chocolate has a lot of cocoa in it, and not too many other ingredients.
In addition to enjoying eating the treats, attendees were treated to a fashion parade of clothes made of chocolate wrappers and the chocolate itself. Events like this can benefit if organizers create illustrated Brochures, which can explain the organization receiving the funds, and show off the creations as well.
