Celebrating Earth Day in Doral

The City of Doral is planning a special event to celebrate Earth Day.

Organizers are inviting everyone to come to Doral Glades Park to take part in activities related to nature, and to cap the fun with a screening of the film “Migration,” which will be shown on the giant inflatable outdoor movie screen.

The film is from Illumination Animation Studio, the same studio that created “Despicable Me” and its subsequent sequels. “Migration” tells of a family of ducks (the Mallards, naturally), where mom is adventurous, but dad is a stay-safe-at-home guy. Mom finally talks him into taking a trip from their pond in New England to Jamaica via New York City, and difficulties and hijinks ensue. The film is rated PG for mildly rude humor and some perilous situations.

Earth Day is a global event held annually (the official date is April 22) to support environmental protection. The day was established in 1970. Over a billion people around the world take part in various Earth Day celebrations.

Everyone is invited to bring blankets and lawn chairs so they can be comfortable while watching the film. The evening is open to everyone, free of charge. Vendors will be on hand with food and other refreshments for sale. The date is April 19, from 6.30 pm until 9.00 pm. Organizers of outdoor events like this often work with banner printing to create directional signage to help visitors find the venue.
