The Delray Beach Public Library will host a two-part event that teaches people about perception and ethics.
Perception, Illusion, and How the Brain Misleads Us: Using Science to Improve Human Values is a two-part series where attendees can learn more about how the human brain works. The first presentation will cover how illusions are able to trick the brain. The lesson will also teach the audience how the brain processes light and color. In the second presentation, guests will discover how psychology and neuroscience play a role in developing human values and ethical structures.
The presenter for these events is Dr. Russell Hamer, an affiliate research professor at Florida Atlantic University. He has been studying neuroscience for four decades and is currently focused on researching musical rhythm. Dr. Hamer has also researched human visual development, measures of abnormal vision, and phototransduction. He appeared in many publications, including American Scientist, the Journal of General Physiology, and Psychology & Neuroscience.
The presentations will be held on March 26th and April 2nd. Both events will take place in the Delray Beach Public Library’s large meeting room. People can pay $60 to attend the two lectures or $30 to join just one. Registration is necessary to participate in Dr. Hamer’s lessons. Libraries that host other educational events like this may use printing services to make poster advertisements for their programs.
