Major celebration in Deerfield Beach

A significant date in American history is coming up and Deerfield Beach has a celebration on the calendar.

For the first time, the city is throwing a Juneteenth Celebration. Juneteenth is short for “June 19,” which is the date that marks the end of slavery in the United States. The City of Deerfield Beach is partnering with the African American Heritage Board to host the inaugural event marking this historic milestone. Activities planned include a kick-off reception, live entertainment, a rib competition, a junkanoo, and a chance to visit the Black History Mobile Museum.

The two-day celebration begins with a banquet at the Double Tree by Hilton Hotel Deerfield Beach. Attendees are encouraged to wear African attire. The fun continues the following day, with a parade, a car show, rib cook-off, and live entertainment. The parade steps off at 12.00 pm, with participants getting in place at 10.30 am. Live entertainment and the car show will be available from 2.00 pm until 7.00 pm, and the rib cook-off will take place from 4.00 pm until 6.30 pm. Flyer printing can be used to create handouts with schedules of events like this.

The Juneteenth Celebration is set for June 18 and 19, and tickets are already on sale. The banquet will be held from 7.00 pm until 9.00 pm on the 18th, with doors opening at 6.00 pm. The parade, car show, cook-off and other events are set for the 19th.
